2/21/22 – Mahogany Mountain Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff, a Hasty medic, and the SVU responded to an area north of Gerlach to locate the vehicle and rescue two subjects and a dog that had become stuck in snow on Sunday afternoon, 2/20. On Monday afternoon, the subjects decided to start walking in an attempt to find cell service, which is a rare commodity in that location. Fortunately, they walked the right way and found cell service. A Gerlach deputy attempted to get to the location as the SAR team was en route, but he was unable to get to the stuck subjects. Heavy snow was in progress as the team navigated to the location, moved the subjects to a fully enclosed side x side, and traveled back to staging. The subjects were transported back to Gerlach for the night.

2/17/22 – Peavine Body Recovery

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and the SVU assisted WCSO detectives and the medical examiner in locating and recovering a deceased subject above the Somersett area.

2/13/22 – Winnemucca Ranch Rd. Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff a Hasty medic, and the SVU staged on the Winnemucca Ranch Rd. to locate an unknown number of subjects that had initiated their OnStar system in a vehicle approximately 11 miles from the turnoff to the Moonrocks. SVU teams located two subjects in a vehicle that was stuck in a wet area that is fed by a creek. The vehicle was easily extracted and they continued their journey.

2/13/22 – Peavine EMS

SAR Staff and the SVU assisted TMFR and Care Flight in locating and transporting a subject that was having a medical episode in the hills above Verdi on the south side of Peavine. The subject, and his wife, were located and transported to staging.
