4/28/2016 – Vehicle Underwater

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team assisted Lander County SAR and SO Deputies in locating and removing a vehicle from Miller’s Pit – an abandoned open-pit mine that is now full of water.

4/22/2016 – Lost/Stuck 4×4

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Kings Row entrance to Peavine to locate a stuck vehicle with two occupants. They had reported that they had gone five miles from the Leadership Way entrance, so it was assumed that they were near the peak of Peavine. When coordinates were plotted, it placed them just west of the Kings Row entrance to Peavine, a hundred yards north of houses in the area. SAR teams quickly located the subjects (they could be seen from staging) and gave verbal instructions as to which way to turn their wheels to become unstuck.

4/16/2016 – Injured Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Micheal Thompson Trailhead on the report of a subject that had fallen and injured their wrist. REMSA medics were first on scene, which was at the upper part of the trail, and stabilized the subject. Two SAR foot teams made contact with the group as they were walking down the trail, VERY slowly. It was taking an abnormally long time to get down to staging, so a SVU side x side was sent in as far as ATV’s can get – about 1/3 of a mile, to meet the patient and expedite the process. The subject and one medic were transported to a waiting ambulance.

4/12/2016 – Stuck/Lost Subjects

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Pinehaven entrance to the Hunter Lake Rd. to search for two subjects that were stuck and not sure where they were. They stated on the phone that they were traveling to Hunter Lake to camp, but became stuck. 4×4 teams and an ATV team were sent to the coordinates that put them on the main road to Hunter Lake, but the ATV team was re-routed to another set of coordinates closer to the Alum Creek drainage area. The ATV team located the vehicle and subjects, off the road, and partially in the creek. They had attempted to turn around due to downed trees being in the road, and kept getting farther into the creek. Another ATV team with four side x sides were sent to the location and assisted in transporting the subjects and their gear down to staging.

4/10/2016 – Lost Subjects

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Bird Springs Road area in Rancho Haven to search for two subjects who had been walking after they crashed their 4×4 vehicle. As teams were arriving at staging, TMFPD located the subjects and transported them to staging.
