10/25/21 – Buckhorn Rd. Stranded Family

SAR Staff and the SVU staged at Buckhorn Rd. on SR447 to locate a family of three and a dog that became stuck in the mud while driving to Ravendale. A Gerlach Deputy was unable to make it to the location due to deep mud. SVU side x sides were able to navigate the mud and snow to locate the subjects. They were transported down to staging and given a ride to a friend’s house in Empire.

10/24/21 – Peavine Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff, a Hasty medic, and the SVU responded to the Cold Springs park and ride to access two subjects in a vehicle that had slid off a road. As teams were responding to the location from staging, one of the subjects called and stated they were getting help from a relative and did not need assistance from SAR.

10/19/21 – Evidence Search

SAR staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were all requested to perform an evidence search for an OIS incident in the area of Golden Valley Drive and the east bound onramp to I580.

10/17/21 – PahRah Mountains Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff, a Hasty medic, and the SVU responded to a staging location on Wilcox Ranch Rd. to locate two subjects that had become stranded while driving a side x side. Teams located the stranded vehicle, but the subjects were not there. RAVEN was then brought in to assist the search. While SVU teams were searching roads and trails in the area, RAVEN was able to locate the subjects in a shed on PahRah Springs Rd. IMT and SAR staff drove to the location and transported the subjects to their vehicle and trailer.

10/16/21 – Mt. Rose Lost Hikers

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team responded to the Mt. Rose Peak area to locate two lost hikers. They had started out early in the day with an initial destination of Church’s Pond. Once they reached that location, they decided to continue up to Mt. Rose Peak. Unfortunately, due to snow, they lost the trail and became lost. A ground team, including a medic, hiked up the main trail to the peak, then down to the subject’s location. After a medical evaluation, they were escorted down to a location on the Mt. Rose Highway where they were all picked up by SAR and IMT staff.
