4/22/18 – Missing Juveniles

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Pleasant Valley area to search for two missing children. As SAR teams were en route, the children were located. SAR response was cancelled.

4/22/2018 – Injured ATV Rider

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted TMFPD and Care Flight in locating and transporting an injured ATV rider on the west side of Peavine Mountain. The rider had experienced a roll-over accident, and had injured an ankle. After initial treatment and packaging, she was moved to a Care Flight helicopter that was able to land about 75 yards away.

4/21/2018 – Injured Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR assisted TMFPD in locating, packaging, and transporting an injured hiker on the Hunter Lake Trail. The subject was located approximately 2.25 miles from the parking lot. The patient was transported on a wheeled litter to an open area where she was hoisted by a NAS Fallon Longhorn helicopter. The patient was then flown to a waiting ambulance near the staging location.

4/17/2018 – Missing Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted RPD in searching for a missing 10yo juvenile in the Sutro/McCarran area. Teams checked local businesses, the hillsides to the west and north, and the surrounding neighborhood. The child walked in the backdoor of his house after approximately six hours of being gone, and had apparently been in the local area. He was checked by REMSA and released.

4/4/2018 – Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Biltmore Hotel at Crystal Bay to locate a lost hiker due north of that location. The hiker had intended to take a route to the old fire lookout at Crystal Bay, but took a wrong turn. Ground teams hiked to the subject’s location, provided by a cell phone ping, and escorted him back to staging.
