1/29/21 – Skier Rescue

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and RAVEN responded to the Winters Creek Lodge to locate and rescue an out-of-bounds skier that was down hill from the lodge in a location that was one drainage to the south of the Davis Creek drainage. Winds initially prevented RAVEN from getting into the area, so a ski team was deployed. They located the subject and requested a pick-up, but winds were not cooperating. Finally, the winds subsided enough for them to be hoisted and flown to a landing zone at the Winters Creek parking lot.

1/29/21 – Carson County Mutual Aide

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR assisted Carson County in locating a lost subject to the west of Goni Rd. Deep snow in the area required the use of tracked ATV’s. RAVEN located the subject and SVU was able to get within about 1/4 mile of the location. A Hasty Medic was deployed and administered initial treatment. A switch of helicopters was required to perform a hoist from the deep canyon he had walked into. The hoist was performed and the subject was transferred to REMSA at the Washoe Lake State Park staging location.

1/28/21 – Palomino Valley EMS

SAR Staff and the SVU were requested by TMFR to assist with getting to a victim of a fall at a residence in an area that was snowbound. Between a local resident with a plow, TMFR, and the SVU, the residence was accessed and the subject evaluated for injuries.

1/24/21 – Henness Pass Stuck Vehicle

SAR Staff, Hasty, and the SVU responded to a staging location in Verdi to locate a stuck vehicle with an unknown number of subjects. The location was provided by a 911 ping to the vehicle. As the first team was arriving in the area of the ping, the subject vehicle and a second vehicle were located exiting the area. The owner of the second vehicle had been contacted by the stranded subject and asked for help, after calling 911. The stranded vehicle had two adults and one infant. They were safely escorted down to a staging location.
