7/4/20 – Sparks Marina

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Sparks Marina to search for a drowning victim on the south side off from the dog park. Divers, an underwater ROV, sidescan sonar, and RAVEN were unsuccessful in locating the subject. Teams will return on the morning of 7/5.

7/3/20 – Mt. Rose Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC were requested to stage at the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot to locate a lost hiker and her dog. They had started earlier in the day at the Thomas Creek Trailhead and became lost in the Mt. Rose Wilderness area. Ground teams located the subject using a cell phone ping and guided her down to a pick-up location where the SVU could transport all parties back to staging.

7/2/20 – Pyramid Lake PWC Adrift

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU began responding to the South Nets area of Pyramid Lake on the report of three subject on a PWC that was adrift. Two had PFD’s, one didn’t. The wind was pushing them out into the lake and at least one subject was in the water attempting to swim/pull the PWC toward shore. As teams were en route, the wind changed enough to push them in the direction of shore where the group could stand up in the water and bring the PWC to shore. SAR response was cancelled.

7/2/20 – Cielo Fire Evacuations

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to a staging location on Campo Rico Ln. to perform evacuations for the Cielo Fire. As teams were arriving at staging, the fire lost its’ momentum and the need for evacuations by SAR was put on hold and eventually cancelled.

7/1/20 – Stranded Dirt Biker

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Golden Eagle Park area to locate a dirt biker that had mechanical issues and was stranded. SVU teams used cell phone ping coordinates to navigate to his location. His bike needed to be left there, but he was transported back to staging. He will retrieve the machine tomorrow.
