7/21/20 – Jones Creek EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to both the Galena entrance and the Whites Creek entrance to the Jones Creek/Whites Creek Loop Trail on the report of two subjects that were out of water, dehydrated, and in need of assistance. Two BC ground teams accessed the location of the subject from the Galena side, while the SVU transported two BC members to the wilderness boundary on the Whites Creek Trail. The teams from the Galena side located the subjects first and decided to bring them back to the Galena staging. They were given water and escorted down to be evaluated by REMSA.

7/21/20 – Jumbo Grade EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU responded to the Jumbo Grade OHV parking area to assist with an injured dirt bike rider up in the canyon. TMFR was first on scene with a SxS, and made contact with the subject shortly before SAR teams arrived at staging. A Hasty Truck was sent up with two members to assist with any packaging. The subject was transported to staging by TMFR.

7/11/20 – Missing Juvenile

All teams began responding to the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot to search for a juvenile hiker that chased after a small dog and did not return. As teams were arriving in the area, the subject was located by family members. SAR response was cancelled.

7/11/20 – Smoke Creek Desert Stranded Subject

SAR Staff, RAVEN, and the SVU responded to a staging location at Warriors Bay to locate a stranded subject on the east side of the Smoke Creek Desert. The subject was spotted by a passing freight train during the night, stopped, and gave the subject some food and water. He had been stuck and out of gas for three days. The train was not allowed to transport him, but he was told to stay at that location so that the railroad could report where he was to law enforcement. As teams were almost to the subject, another train came across him and transported him to a location where SAR could pick him up and transport him to staging. He was checked by medical personnel, then taken back to the vehicle. SAR staff and some SVU members extricated the vehicle, supplied him with gas, and he went on his way to Gerlach.

7/5/20 – Sparks Marina Drowning

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU continued a search in the Sparks Marina for a subject that went missing the previous day. With the use of an underwater ROV, the subject was located. Hasty divers then retrieved the body, which was then packaged and brought to shore so it could be handed off to the Medical Examiner.
