3/8/19 – Lost Snowbiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Tahoe Meadows to locate a subject that became separated from his riding partner, then had his machine develop mechanical issues. A cell phone ping placed him approximately .75 miles to the north of SR431. Backcountry skiers, along with SVU snow machines, accessed the location. The subject’s snowbike was left at the site, and the subject was transported down to staging in a SVU tracked side x side. The subject returned the next day, with a friend, to retrieve his machine.

2/28/19 – Recovery of Two Deceased Subjects

SAR Staff, the SVU, TMFPD, and WCSO Deputies responded to a mountain top repeater site on Peavine on the report of two subjects inside a building, behind a locked door, that were not responding to phone calls or knocking on the door. Once entry was made to the site, the subjects were discovered, deceased. Carbon monoxide levels were extremely high in the building, possibly due to a malfunctioning venting system.
