12/28/19 – Evidence Search

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were requested to assist RPD with an evidence search in the hills above Caughlin Ranch relative to an on-going criminal investigation.

12/11/19 – Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate and transport two subjects that had their side x side get stuck near the top of Peavine on the main access road. As the snowcat was making their way to their location, due to being cold, the subjects decided to walk down the road. The snowcat met them approximately 1/3 of the way down and transported them to staging.

12/3/19 – Evidence Search

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, IMT, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Lazy 5 Regional Park to assist detectives with an evidence search related to a homicide that occurred the previous day.

12/1/19 – Stranded Hunter

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Winnemucca Ranch Rd to locate and transport a hunter that was stuck in snow and mud approximately 13 miles in from the Pyramid Lake Highway. As SAR assets were arriving at staging, the subject reported that he had got himself unstuck and was driving out. SAR personnel on scene waited to make sure he made it out.

11/29/19 – Stuck Subjects on Peavine

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the North Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate and rescue four subjects near the Red Metal Mine. They had gone out 4-wheeling in two vehicles earlier in the day, and one of them had mechanical difficulties. All four subjects go into the second vehicle and drove farther, becoming stuck in the snow. Side x sides were unable to access the location due to drifting snow, but a tracked ATV and a snowcat were able to locate the group and transport them back to staging.
