2/19/19 – Missing Skier at Heavenly Valley, Continued

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR assisted Douglas County SAR, Placer County SAR, El Dorado County SAR, Tahoe Nordic Group, and Heavenly Valley Ski Patrol in locating a skier missing since the previous day. His body was located in deep snow during the late morning hours. It had appeared he had crashed while skiing deep powder and could not self-rescue.

2/18/19 – Missing Skier at Heavenly Valley

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team responded for a mutual aid call from Douglas County SAR to assist in locating a missing skier at Heavenly Valley Ski Resort. Searchers checked tree wells allnight in an area where the skier was last seen. Nothing was located.

2/18/19 – Lost Snowmobilers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU responded to the Verdi entrance to Dog Valley to locate two snowmobilers that had become disoriented and were lost. A cell phone ping placed them in the area of the Crystal Peak Campground. One tracked ATV, one snowmobile, and one snowcat headed in the direction of the coordinate, and located the subjects. They were not in need of any medical assistance, so they were guided out to the staging location.

2/14/19 – Swiftwater Rescue

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an area in the Lockwood Canyon to rescue a subject that was stranded on an island in the raging creek – that was now closer to resembling a river. The transient had been living in the area for a period of time, but the water surrounded her location. Hasty Team members devised a rope system with a raft to access the location and bring her safely to shore.

2/10/19 – Lost Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Lazy 5 Park area to search for a lost 16yo. As teams were coming into the area, the subject was located by a S.O. Deputy. SAR resources cancelled.
