1/12/18 – Topaz Lake Double Drowning

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU were requested by Douglas County to assist in locating two subjects that drowned after a small boat capsized. Three subjects were in the boat, none wearing PFD’s. One subject survived by hanging on to the boat and was picked up by another fisherman. A second subject was recovered by Hasty Team divers. Teams will redeploy to the lake on Sunday with side-scan sonar to locate the third subject.

1/10/19 – ELT

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an are east of D’Andrea to search for an ELT ping that was received by the DPS and the Air Force. The ping eventually quit, and nothing was located by ground teams.

1/6/18 – Lost Snowshoer

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to a mutual aid call from Douglas County involving a lost snowshoer in an area south of Dagget Pass on Kingsbury Grade. Foot teams searched an area that was designated high-priority through cell phone forensics. The subject was located, alive, the following morning by a helicopter.

1/6/18 – Lost Snowshoers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Tahoe Meadows to locate and rescue three people snowshoeing in the Meadows area. Through a cell phone text ping, the rescuers located the subjects and safely guided them back to staging at SR431.
