SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Hibbits Trail area to search for a snowboarder that had skied out of bounds from the Slide side of the Mount Rose Ski Resort, and was reported missing by friends. Tracks were located in the snow by searchers, and were followed down to Davis Creek Park. The subject was met by waiting SAR members.
The SVU transported county technicians to the top of Virginia Peak so that power needed for the repeater system could be switched back to supplied power, and the temporary generator could be towed back down the mountain. The back-up generator had failed during the storm from the previous week.
The SVU assisted the Washoe County radio shop in getting fuel to the generator that’s powering the repeater equipment on Virginia Peak.
SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate seven subjects in one vehicle that were stuck somewhere on the main road. SAR teams located the vehicle approximately two miles from the bottom. The seven subjects, five of them being juveniles, were transported down to staging.
The SVU was again requested to transport county radio personnel and to the top of Virginia Peak for repair of the repeater system. Personnel, equipment, and a generator were transported to the site.
