8/29/2018 – Overdue Subjects

SAR Staff, Air Squadron, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an area south of Vya/east of Eagleville, CA to search for two overdue campers. The reporting party, stated that they were supposed to be home on Monday, but waited until Wednesday to report them overdue. RAVEN attempted to fly into the area, but were turned back by winds. The Air Squadron flew the area, but did not spot the subjects. Ground teams were deployed from Gerlach to possible areas by either SR34 or SR447. Two ground teams that had staged east of Eagleville located the subjects at a campsite known as “Home Camp”. They were fine and were surprised anyone was looking for them. There had evidently been some miscommunication as to when they were supposed to be home.
