12/17/2018 – Stuck Vehicle

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the end of Pinehaven Dr. to locate and transport two subjects in a stuck vehicle. The subjects had become stuck yesterday afternoon, and spent the night in their vehicle before requesting help. They were located without incident and transported down to staging, then given a ride to a local restaurant so that they could meet friends who would assist in getting their vehicle unstuck.

12/16/2018 – Overdue Hunters

SAR Staff, Air Squadron, SVU, and WCSAR responded to a staging location in Gerlach to search for three overdue hunters somewhere in the Buffalo Meadows Rd/Painters Flat area. Teams were entering the area from three different routes, while the Air Squadron searched from above. Due to weather and daylight, the Air Squadron had to suspend their searching, but the ground teams continued. Just before darkness, one of the ground teams encountered the subjects, along with two other private vehicles that had been searching since this morning, coming down Buffalo Meadows Rd. The overdue subjects had become stuck in an iced-over section of a road where a spring feeds the area. All subjects were accounted for. SAR teams returned to Gerlach for debrief.

12/6/2018 – Missing Person

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, WCSAR, and WOOF were used for mutual aid to Reno PD in searching for a missing subject in southeast Reno. The individual has been missing for approximately 2.5 weeks. Negative results.

12/2/2018 – Diamond Peak EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and SVU were requested to respond to Diamond Peak Ski Resort for a subject that had a leg injury, however, the resort is not open, so there wasn’t any ski patrol to respond. SAR teams were to assist NLTFPD in locating and transporting the subject and two family members. As SAR teams were en route, Diamond Peak grooming personnel assisted NLTFPD in locating and transporting the subject.
