10/12/24 – Buckhorn Rd. Apple Device Activation

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC began responding to a location off of SR447 dealing with an Apple device text activation requesting help. SVU had a team on patrol from Hunter’s Aid, so they were redirected to the location as teams from Reno began the drive. A Gerlach deputy also was en route. The deputy was able to make contact with the subject before other teams arrived at the location and relayed it was an accidental activation.

10/10/24 – Mt. Rose Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC responded to the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot to access a hiker that was reported to have a lower leg injury. The subject was located at the waterfall, treated, and transported to staging.

10/5/24 – Pyramid Lake Boat Rescue

SAR Staff and the SVU were requested to respond to Pyramid Lake to assist the Pyramid Lake Fire Boat that was having mechanical difficulties. Marine 20 towed the Pyramid Lake boat to Pelican Dock.

10/5/24 – Stranded Kayaker

SAR Staff and the SVU began responding to Pyramid Lake to assist a kayaker that was stranded on Anaho Island. As personnel were responding, Pyramid Lake Tribal authorities stated that they were putting a boat on the water and that Washoe County could cancel.

9/30/24 – Missing Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR were requested to search for an endangered juvenile that was reported missing from a school in Spanish Springs. Teams checked neighborhood roads and open spaces while RAVEN began surveying the Lemmon Valley/Hungry Valley area from the air. An eye-witness reported seeing the subject in the area of Eagle Canyon and Hungry Valley Rd., then another report came in that he was at a residence in Lemmon Valley. WCSO Deputies located the juvenile at the reported house.
