10/31/24 – Lemmon Valley Flood Evacuations

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were requested for evacuation notices due to a major water main break that was flooding the neighborhood. As teams arrived, more assistance was needed for traffic control than evacuation notices. SAR teams were placed at closed road intersections.

10/25/24 – Injured Hunter RAVEN Hoist

SAR Staff, Hasty Hoist personnel, and RAVEN flew to a location on Limbo Rd., off of SR447, to hoist an injured hunter. The hoist was performed and the patient was then transferred to a medical helicopter for a flight to Reno.

10/18/24 Mt. Rose Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC staged at the Mt. Rose Highway summit to locate a lone hiker that had lost the trail near the top of Mt. Rose Peak. SVU transported BC personnel to a drop-off location near the main trail so that they could access the hiker quicker, who was experiencing high winds and cold hands. The subject was located, given more clothing and water, then escorted down the waiting SxSs for transport to staging.

10/13/24 – Moonrocks EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC began responding to the Moonrocks area for a dirtbike accident. Before SAR personnel arrived at staging, TMFR made contact with the subject.

10/12/24 – Buckhorn Rd. Apple Device Activation

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC began responding to a location off of SR447 dealing with an Apple device text activation requesting help. SVU had a team on patrol from Hunter’s Aid, so they were redirected to the location as teams from Reno began the drive. A Gerlach deputy also was en route. The deputy was able to make contact with the subject before other teams arrived at the location and relayed it was an accidental activation.
