9/22/23 – Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, the SVU, and WCSAR BC staged at the Lakeview entrance to the Hobart Lake area to locate an injured mountain biker. Care Flight was able to locate the subject and land in the area. The subject, however, refused transport. The subject was then transported down to staging in a Hasty Team vehicle.

9/19/23 – WCSO Deputy Transport

SAR Staff and the SVU were requested to transport deputies to the location of an abandoned camp near the top of Virginia peak where a person recreating found a gun, clothing, and other personal items. Once located, deputies were able to find an I.D. that gave the person’s name, which they contacted. The person said he had left everything there and that everything was fine, and it was his property. It turned out that the camp was just over his property line, so the gun was collected and the owner notified.

9/18/23 – WCSO Deputy Transport

SAR Staff and the SVU were requested to respond to a location off of Calle De La Plata to transport deputies to a location that some hunters found that was described to have many buckets of possible body parts. Once the site was accessed, it turned out to be buckets of black water waste that someone dumped.

9/17/23 – Air Races Evidence Search

All teams were requested to provide either security in the area of two planes that crashed in a neighborhood to the west of the Stead Airport, or for an evidence search. Evidence search personnel were first used on the east crash that occurred in a heavily populated area of campers, then were moved to the west crash site that was in an open field.

9/8/23 – Ophir Creek Lost Subjects

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, the SVU, and WCSAR BC responded to Franktown Rd. for two subjects that were lost on the Ophir Creek Trail. As teams were arriving at staging, a land owner in the area came across the two subjects and transported them down to staging.
