SAR Staff and the SVU traveled to Buckhorn Rd., northwest of Gerlach, to rescue a stranded subject. The vehicle was extricated and the subject was escorted back to staging.

1/21/22 – Lost Subject

SAR Staff, a Hasty medic, and the SVU staged at the Reno Sparks Indian Colony in Hungry Valley to locate a stranded and lost subject with two dogs in the Hungry Valley area. The subject was located through a cell phone ping and transported to staging.

1/19/22 – Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Jumbo Grade OHV staging area to locate two subjects in a stranded side x side. The subjects were located at the provided cell phone ping coordinates and transported down to staging. One subject was suffering from mild hypothermia.

1/16/22 – Lost Skier

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, and WCSAR BC personnel were requested to respond to the Slide side of the Mt. Rose Ski Resort and to Davis Creek to locate a lost skier in the Ophir Creek drainage. A ski team, coming from the top, located the subject. A snowshoe team met the group as they moved toward staging. The subject was guided safely back to staging.

1/9/22 – Incline Lake EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC began responding to the area of Incline Lake to locate, treat, and transport an injured backcountry skier. As teams were en route, it was learned that friends that were skiing with the injured subject had constructed a makeshift sled and moved him to SR431 to meet up with NLTFPD medics. SAR response was cancelled.
