12/30/21 – Petersen Mnt. Stranded Subject

SAR Staff, a Hasty Team medic, and the SVU responded to an area off of Red Rock Rd. to locate a subject that had been stranded in his vehicle for three days in the Petersen Mountain Range. Using tracked vehicles, the subject was located and transported down to staging where he was turned over to a friend for a ride to a place to stay.

12/30/21 – Northstar Mutual Aid

SAR Staff, Hasty Back Country and WCSAR Back Country members assisted numerous SAR organizations in the sixth operational period of searching for a missing skier at the Northstar Ski Resort. Unfortunately, the subject was not located. The search has been suspended.

12/27/21 – Henness Pass Rd, Stranded Vehicle

SAR Staff, a Hasty medic, and the SVU responded to Verdi to locate a family of three that were reported to be stuck in snow at Summit 1. The family was located, along with a second abandoned vehicle and a third vehicle with a good samaritan that was attempting to extricate the family, much lower down the canyon. It was determined that the stuck vehicle was not going to be extricated, so all baggage and subjects were transported down to staging. They were then transported to Boomtown for the night.

12/25/21 – Mt. Rose Lost Skier

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Mt. Rose Ski area to search for a lost skier that had called 911. Unfortunately, the phone was of a type that did not allow incoming calls. Ski patrol checked the location but could not locate anyone. As teams were en route, resort personnel determined that there were no vehicles in the parking lot after closing. SAR response was cancelled.

12/14/21 – Missing Alzheimer Subject

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Mogul/Somersett area to search for a subject last seen this morning, going for a walk with his dogs. As SAR assets were beginning to arrive at staging, the subject was located in a neighborhood in north Somersett.
