2/7/20 – Injured Snowboarder

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Sheeps Flat area of the Mt. Rose Highway to rescue an injured back-country snowboarder. Due to the location of the subject, it was decided that a helicopter hoist operation would be the best way for extraction. Once the subject was packaged and hoisted, RAVEN made the transport to a waiting ambulance at the Mt. Rose Highway.

2/6/20 – Henness Pass Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff and the SVU assisted Sierra County in locating two sets of stranded subjects in the Summit One and Summit Two areas. Both parties had spent the night. With the assistance of Sierra County, the groups were extricated from their predicaments and brought back to staging.

1/8/20 – Henness Pass Rd. Stranded Motorist

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Verdi entrance to Dog Valley to locate a stranded motorist on the Henness Pass Rd. As teams were leaving staging, the subject was able to get unstuck with the help of a private citizen. The SAR team continued on and met the two vehicles coming down toward staging.

1/5/20 – Hunter Creek Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and WCSAR responded to the Michael Thompson Trailhead on the report of a female hiker that had an ankle injury and was unable to walk. TMFPD and SAR ground teams located the subject approximately two miles from the trail head. Due to the location, it was decided that it was safer to perform a hoist with RAVEN. The subject was safely transported to the trail head area for waiting REMSA medics to continue treatment.
