5/9/20 – Pinehaven Lost Family

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU responded to the Pinehaven entrance to Hunter Lake to search for three lost family members – a mother and two children. The father had become separated from the rest of them during their hike out after camping overnight. The father flagged down a passing 4×4, who allowed him to use their phone to call 911. As teams were searching the area where the father said he saw them last, the mother called 911, enabling a ping location to be generated. Teams accessed the area, located the subjects, and transported them to staging.

4/25/20 – Lemmon Valley Lost Equestrian Rider

SAR Staff, RAVEN, and the SVU responded to the dirt extension of Chimney Drive to search for an overdue elderly equestrian rider. A cell phone ping was successful part way into the search, but the location was somewhere in a line of about 5.5 miles. As SAR teams, RAVEN, and Tribal Police searched, a SAR ground team located the subject. The horse was in desperate need of water, although the rider refused water for himself. Family was brought into the area and assisted with walking the horse back to staging, while the lost subject was transported by side x side.
