8/15/20 – Galena Creek Falls EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR BC staged at the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot to locate a subject that was having a medical episode on the Mt. Rose Trail, near the Galena Creek Falls. Teams accessed the patient by foot and assisted closing down the trail when RAVEN arrived to hoist the patient. She was then delivered to an LZ at the Mt. Rose Summit parking area to be transferred to REMSA. The family of the patient, SAR BC, and one TMFR member then hiked to where the SVU was able to stage and were transported back to the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot.

8/14/20 – Mid-Tahoe Drowning

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU assisted Douglas County SO with attempting to locate a drowning victim in Lake Tahoe. Both Douglas County and Washoe County deployed ROV’s to depths of 1500’+ in an attempt to find the subject. The day ended without success.

8/11/20 – Garson Rd. Lost Hiker

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Garson Rd. entrance to Big Meadow to locate a hiker that was lost. The subject had started at the Thomas Creek Trailhead the day before, camped in the upper elevations somewhere between Mt. Rose and Sunflower Mnt. and continued to do some hiking on Tuesday. On his hike, he ran into a “large bear” that he bolted downhill from and became lost. A cell phone ping was used to get a location for the subject. The SVU drove to the coordinates and transported him down to staging. He was then driven to his vehicle at Thomas Creek.

8/3/20 – North Fire Evacuations

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were requested to stage at the Palomino Valley Volunteer Fire Station to perform fire evacuations for the quickly moving North Fire. As of Monday morning, the fire had grown to almost 7000 acres.

8/2/20 – Lemmon Valley Stranded Vehicle

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the dirt extension of Chickadee Drive to search for a subject in a stranded vehicle. The vehicle was located by SAR Staff that was in the area, but the subject was not in it. As teams were arriving at staging, Tribal Police located the subject and transported him to a friend’s residence.
