11/8/20 – Hobart Stuck Campers

SAR Staff and the SVU began responding to the Hobart Lake area to locate a group of campers that had become stuck at the border of Washoe County and Carson City in the Ash Canyon area. After they called 911, they refused to stay put and then refused assistance. SAR response was cancelled.

11/8/20 – Gold Ranch EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU responded to the Gold Ranch area to assist RFD and TMFR with locating and transporting an injured hiker. The subject was located, packaged, and transported by UTV to a waiting ambulance at the Gold Ranch RV Park.

11/5/20 – Peavine Stranded Dirt Biker

SAR Staff, the SVU, and a Hasty Medic responded to a staging location at Hoge Rd. to locate a dirt biker that was having mechanical problems with his dirt bike and could not get it started. SVU teams were able to get to within about 330′, then needed to hike to the subject. With pushing and pulling, the subject and his dirt bike were moved to a location where he could setup on a downhill dirt road and get it compression started. He was then guided safely to staging.

11/2/20 – Shovel Spring Canyon Stranded Hunter

SAR Staff and the SVU staged at a location approximately 19 miles north of Gerlach to search for a stranded hunter. His UTV had broken down and he was only able to text information to a few people, but couldn’t get a call out. With the diligent work of the IMT and SAR Staff, the subject’s location was finally verified as search teams were making their way to where they believed him to be. The subject and his UTV were towed by a friend, who had arrived in the area during the searach, back to his camp.

11/1/20 – Lost Hikers

SAR Staff and Hasty BC began responding to the area of Hibbits Trail to search for two lost hikers. As teams were en route, WCSO patrol located the hikers on the Mt. Rose Highway. SAR response was cancelled.
