10/10/20 – Smoke Creek Rd. Missing Hunter

SAR Staff, RAVEN, and the SVU responded from Reno and Hunter’s Aide (40 miles north of Gerlach) to search for an 88yo hunter that was dropped off earlier in the day and was supposed to meet his son three hours later. When he did not show up, the son searched for a period of time without luck. As teams were approaching the area, the son was able to locate his father. Further SAR response was cancelled.

10/10/20 – Truckee River Canal Drowning

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the flume system that parallels the Truckee River just east of the California/Nevada state line. While riding his bike with friends, the subject’s dog had jumped into the canal and was swept downstream. The subject ended up jumping into the canal and got taken into the aqueduct tunnel. The dog was able to get out, but the subject ended up perishing. He was located by ground teams.

10/9/20 – Sheep Flat EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR assisted NLTFPD with locating a mountain biker who had become violently ill while riding his bike approximately 1/4 mile to the east of the Mt. Rose Highway, and just south of Chickadee Ridge. The subject was located, packaged, and transported to a waiting ambulance.

10/9/20 – Mt. Rose Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, and WCSAR BC were requested to stage at the Mt. Rose summit parking lot to locate a hiker on the Mt. Rose trail that was experiencing multiple medical issues. NLTFPD and Care Flight were also en route. Once the subject was located approximately one mile north of the Galena Creek Falls, she was packaged and moved down the trail to a SVU side x side for the transport to the Care Flight helicopter.

10/8/20 – Jumbo Grade Missing Subject

SAR Staff and the SVU assisted Carson City SAR and Lyon County SAR in locating a subject that had become separated from her husband while chasing after a dog. The wife had chased after the dog after it had jumped from a side x side, and the husband thought she would return quickly. When she didn’t, he searched for a period of time, but it was dark and he couldn’t locate her. Once in the area, the SVU team located the woman and dog, provided her with some warmer clothes, and transported her to a location where Carson SAR was staged on Goni Rd.
