8/26/19 – Canoe Recovery

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team recovered an abandoned canoe from the Truckee River, west of Lockwood. The vessel had been called in numerous times by passing motorists.

8/17/19 – Mt. Rose Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and WCSAR responded to the Mt. Rose summit parking lot to locate a subject that experienced a medical episode and was non-ambulatory. Foot teams arrived shortly before RAVEN got on scene. The subject was packaged and hoisted for the 1.75 mile flight to staging where he was handed over to medical personnel for a trip to the hospital.

8/17/19 – Pyramid Lake Missing Subject

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and the SVU assisted Pyramid Lake Tribal Police in searching for a subject that was last seen struggling to get on a large floaty that was being blown out into the lake. Shore searches and extensive water and air searches were not able to locate either the subject or the floaty. Approximately four hours later, the subject walked into camp, with the deflated floaty. She had been blown to the area of Dago Bay, walked on a dirt road to a highway, and got a ride back to their camp.

8/15/19 – Stranded Subject

SAR Staff, RAVEN, and the SVU responded to an area near the Royal Scepter mine off of 395 north to locate a stranded subject from the previous day. The individual had gone into the area to search for quartz crystals, but got into a bit of a predicament on a steep part of the road and almost slid off. RAVEN spotted the subject and guided the ground team to his location. The subject and his dog were brought to staging and transported to a local business so that he could make arrangements for the recovery of his vehicle.
