2/6/19 – Stuck/Abandoned Vehicle

SAR Staff and the SVU staged at the Washoe Lake State Park to locate a vehicle that some hikers had come upon earlier in the day. They said it appeared to be stuck and that no one was in the area. SVU personnel were able to locate the vehicle, and through some investigation on the part of SAR Staff and the IMT, it was discovered that the owner of the vehicle had loaned the car to his son months ago. The son was contacted and it was learned that he had become stuck before the snow earlier this week, and left the vehicle where it was found.

2/3/19 – Peavine Stuck Vehicle

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate a stuck vehicle with two subjects. Near blizzard conditions met searchers on the way up to the cell phone ping. It took a tracked ATV to finally reach the vehicle and transport them down, one at a time, to waiting side x sides for the ride down to staging.

2/2/19 – Peavine Stuck Vehicle

SAR Staff and the SVU began responding to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate and transport a subject whose vehicle became stuck in the snow. As SAR assets were arriving at staging, the subject called to say he had been picked up by a passing 4×4 and was being given a ride. SAR assets were cancelled.

1/29/19 – Henness Pass Stuck 4×4’s

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Verdi side of Dog Valley to locate and assist two stuck vehicles just over 1st Summit on the Henness Pass Rd. The subjects were located and one vehicle was assisted back to being able to exit the area. The second vehicle will be re-visited by the owner in the morning.

1/27/19 – Lost Snowshoer in Tahoe Meadows

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Tahoe Meadows to locate a lost snowshoer who had become separated from her hiking partner. She was located at the top of the Ophir Creek drainage and was safely guided back to staging.
