3/17/19 – Possible Missing Kayaker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, WCSO Search and Recovery K9 Unit, and WCSAR responded to the area of Silver Lake off of Red Rock to search for a missing subject that was possibly in a kayak the day previous. The kayak was located by RPD. Shore searches by SAR personnel did not locate anything further. The search was suspended for the night, and will resume in the morning.

3/14/19 – Dog Valley Stranded Family of 4

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to the Verdi side of Dog Valley to locate a family of four that had been off-roading and got stuck in the snow on Long Valley Rd. A snowcat and a tracked ATV were given the coordinates from a text-ping, located the subjects, and transported them back to staging. They were given a ride home by friends.

3/10/19 – Lost Snowshoers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Diamond Peak Ski Resort to locate three lost subjects – a father and two children, that were lost after snowshoeing from a location in Tahoe Meadows. As teams were nearing the staging location, the subjects walked out to patrol deputies in the area of Tirol Dr.

3/10/19 – Missing Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to a staging location on Vista Blvd. to search for a missing juvenile that was last seen four hours earlier. Teams were used at containment points and neighborhood road saturation. Sparks PD located the subject at the father’s residence on Greenbrae Drive.

3/8/19 – Lost Snowbiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Tahoe Meadows to locate a subject that became separated from his riding partner, then had his machine develop mechanical issues. A cell phone ping placed him approximately .75 miles to the north of SR431. Backcountry skiers, along with SVU snow machines, accessed the location. The subject’s snowbike was left at the site, and the subject was transported down to staging in a SVU tracked side x side. The subject returned the next day, with a friend, to retrieve his machine.
