5/27/19 – Moon Rocks Vehicle Accident

SAR Staff, Care Flight, Hasty Team, SVU, TMFPD, and WCSAR responded to the Moon Rocks on the report of a vehicle that had rolled down a hill. Upon further investigation, it turned out to be the same vehicle and owner from the Friday call. The subject had attempted to drive the vehicle down a ravine on the mountain, but rolled it at least two times. He was able to get out and start walking. Care Flight landed in a flat area the bottom of mountain and gave him a ride to staging.

5/24/19 – Moon Rocks Vehicle Accident

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Moon Rocks on the report of a vehicle accident in the hills. Once personnel were on scene, the vehicle could be seen near the top of a mountain to the northwest of staging. Just as assets were about to deploy, the owner of the vehicle arrived in staging to let SAR Staff know that the occupants were alright and that they had walked out. They would retrieve the vehicle at another time.

5/22/19 – Missing Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an area in Rancho Haven to search for a missing 15yo. Area roads and trails were searched by vehicle, foot, and by air, but nothing was located. Further investigation reclassified the case as a runaway. The active search was suspended.

4/26/19 – Evidence Recovery

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team assisted Lyon County with a mutual aid request in the Dayton are for finding a gun in a canal. The search was successful.

4/20/19 – Truckee River Drowning Victim Recovery

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to an area of the Truckee River near stateline on I80 to recover a drowning victim. A low-angle rope system was used to bring the deceased kayaker to a dirt road on the south side of the river for transport.
