6/26/19 – Pyramid Lake Subject in Distress

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU began responding to Pyramid Lake on the report of a female subject on a floatie that was being blown out into the lake. The first estimate was that she was 100 yards off shore, then the distance went to 1 mile, then 1.5 miles. Pyramid Lake Fire launched their boat and was able to make contact with her. She was brought to shore and checked by medics. SAR response was cancelled.

6/20/19 – Lost/Stranded Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, WCSAR, Care Flight, and NDF were used to locate a lost and stranded hiker in an area to the west of Mt. Rose Peak. The subject stated that did not know where he was (he was not a local), was holding on to rocks that he had slid down, and had an injured leg. He also suspected frostbite. A reliable phone ping was not available, but Care Flight was able to spot him. Foot teams were sent toward the subject, but snow made travel very slow. An NDF helicopter with hoist capabilities was brought in and deployed two NDF personnel to the site. Meanwhile, Care Flight transported more ground team personnel to an area near the subject. The subject was not injured and was guided to a location where he could be picked up for transport back to staging.

6/17/19 – Hunter Lake Stuck 4×4

SAR Staff, SVU, and WCSAR responded to two different locations in order to locate two subjects in a stuck vehicle. Cell phone pings were placing the subjects near the top of Peavine, but the description given by the subject to the 911 operator was placing him up near Hunter Lake. Further conversations did confirm the location being near the lake, so the SVU was sent to that location. The subjects were located with the vehicle, which was stuck to its frame in snow. They were both transported down to staging and given a ride to a restaurant where the father would pick them up.

6/12/19 – Marlette Peak Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Hobart entrance to Marlette Lake to search for a lost hiker near Marlette Peak. As teams were en route, a private party in a vehicle came across the subject and transported him out to the staging location. SAR assets were cancelled.
