SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an initial staging location at the NDF station on the Mt. Rose Highway to search for two lost snowshoers in the Chickadee Ridge area of the Tahoe Meadows. Teams were sent up to a secondary staging location at the south end of the Tahoe Meadows, and using a cell phone ping, were able to locate the subjects and guide them to the highway where they were checked by NLTFPD medics. The weather was initially very foggy, then turned into a light snow.

3/19/2018 – Stuck Vehicle

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and SVU responded to the area of Toll Rd. to locate a stuck vehicle on Toll Rd., approximately 3/4 of the way to the top. The subject was not familiar with the area and took the wrong road to Virginia City. WCSO Deputies located the subject, got her unstuck, and guided her back down to the staging location.

3/4/2018 – Injured Skier

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR assisted NLTFPD in locating a back-country skier in an area west of Incline Lake who had fallen and sustained a back injury. Due to the location, the best and quickest way was for RAVEN to hoist the subject. Personnel were hoisted down to the subject to make initial contact. They packaged the subject and all were hoisted into RAVEN. The Mt. Rose Highway was briefly shut down so that RAVEN could land and offload the patient to a waiting ambulance.
