10/8/2017 – Injured Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Mayberry Park area to locate an injured hiker on the Steamboat Ditch Trail. Foot teams and a UTV team were deployed to different entrance points, with the UTV team locating the subject and his wife approximately 1/4 mile from the “Hole in the Wall”. The subject had injured a knee and was attempting to very slowly walk back to their starting point at the Thomas Cook Trailhead. The subject was transported down to a waiting ambulance.

10/7/2017 – TRT Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the south end of Sheeps Flat on the report of an injured mountain biker on the Tahoe Rim Trail. NLTFPD was first on scene and deployed their UTV. They drove as far as they could, then hiked to the coordinates. Meanwhile, SAR foot teams were deployed. It was then reported that fire personnel had located the subject and was walking out to their UTV for transport to staging. SAR foot teams returned to staging as well.

10/6/2017 – Boat in Distress at Pyramid Lake

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to Pyramid Lake on the report of a boat in distress in the area of Spider Point. While teams were responding, the subjects used their smaller motor to slowly navigate back to Pelican Docks. A Pyramid Lake PD Officer located them as they arrived at that location. SAR response was cancelled.

10/1/2017 – Water Rescue at Washoe Lake

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the north boat ramp at Washoe Lake on the report of a kite surfer that was in distress. As SAR assets were arriving at staging, the subject was picked up by a fisherman in a boat and was brought to the boat ramp. He was checked by REMSA personnel and released.

10/1/2017 – Pyramid Lake Patrol

The SVU responded to Pyramid Lake for the opening day of fishing season to provide a safety patrol with M10. A couple of tows, one involving a semi-swamped boat on shore near Indian Head, and another boat that had broken down north of Sutcliffe, were accomplished.
