7/12/2017 – Stampede Reservoir Sidescan

SAR Staff, SVU, and Washoe County Sheriff Search and Recovery K9 Unit responded to Stampede Reservoir to assist Sierra County, Placer County, and Santa Clara County in searching for an 11yo subject that fell out of a kayak when winds kicked up on the lake. The subject was not wearing a PFD. This was the third day of the search, and the subject was not located.

7/10/2017 – Fire Evacuation

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the staging location at Cabelas for possible fire evacuations of the Verdi area due to the Farad Fire. Campers in Dog Valley were warned of the possibility of fire in that area as well. Although fire behavior was described as erratic, no fire evacuations were performed by SAR personnel as of late evening.

7/10/2017 – Fire Evacuation

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were called to the Aspen Fire for a second round of evacuations due to the red flag warning. Fire officials feared that the predicted winds, low humidity, and high temperatures could allow the fire to jump containment lines. Evacuation notices were given to residents in the area. The fire was kept in the containment lines, so SAR assets were released.

7/9/2017 – Stranded Boat

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and SVU responded to Pyramid Lake to locate a boat with three people on board that had mechanical problems north of the Needles. Cell phone coordinates were provided by the subjects. The stranded boat was located at the coordinates and was taken under tow for the 1.5 hour trip back to Pelican Dock.
