SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and SVU assisted WCSO Deputies in recovering a deceased subject that was found by a hiker on the east side of Peavine, approximately two miles above Hoge Rd.

2/28/2016 – Lost Dirt Bikers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR staged at both the Verdi entrance to Dog Valley and the Sommersett entrance to Peavine to search for two dirt bikers who were lost and physically too tired to go any farther. Cell phone coordinates were provided, and an ATV team coming in on the Dog Valley Road route located the subjects about one mile into Nevada, on the west side of Peavine. The two subjects were going to need transportion, but WCSAR teams coming in from the Sommersett entrance came across a locked gate about a mile from the subjects. A second team, comprised of a side x side and a 4×4 coming through Dog Valley, met up with the ATV team and was able to transport the subjects back to staging.

2/13/2016 – Stuck 4×4 on Peavine

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine to locate a family of two, along with a dog, that were stuck on the main road to the top of Peavine. Teams located the vehicle in about the same place as all previous Peavine Road missions this winter season. Team members were able to do a little shovel work, and get the subjects back moving downhill.

2/9/2016 – Missing Kayaker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded once again to the Pyramid Lake to continue the search for the missing kayaker/fisherman. Ground teams searched the shoreline from the Nets to Popcorn, and from Popcorn around to Dago Bay. M20 located the subject’s kayak washed ashore on Anaho Island. A couple of hours later, two Hasty swimmers who had been deployed to search the immediate area around the kayak, located the deceased subject approximately 100′ from the kayak, about 10′ from shore.
