5/15/2016 – Missing/Overdue Subjects

SAR staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Gerlach area on the report of two overdue women who traveled to the Gerlach area. As teams were leaving Reno, the mother of one of the subjects was contacted by her daughter, stating that they had had car trouble, and were given a ride into Gerlach. SAR assets were cancelled.

5/14/2016 – Capsized Boat at Pyramid Lake

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and SVU, began responding to Pyramid Lake on the report of a capsized boat with two subjects clinging to the hull. Before SAR assets got to the lake, the boat was towed to shore by a private party. It turned out to be a catamaran sailboat on its side.

5/15/2016 – Missing Juvenile

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Robb Drive area to search for a missing female juvenile. Local parks, schools, walking trails, and open areas were searched. The subject was located after the family received a text from the subject stating that she was at a friend’s house and that she was O.K.

5/14/2016 – ATV Accident

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were sent to an area in Palomino Valley to locate the subject of an ATV accident. As teams were arriving in the area, it was learned that REMSA had already located the subject, and was transporting him to Care Flight.

5/13/2016 – Rollover Accident at Moon Rocks

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Moon Rocks to assist Care Flight, REMSA, and TMFPD on the report of an injury ATV accident in a ravine. Upon arrival, it was learned that it was a rock crawler with two subjects that rolled down into a very steep ravine and sustained serious injuries. Care Flight was unable to land at the site, and requested RAVEN for a hoist. SAR teams were transported to a location about 1/2 mile from the accident scene, where they had to walk the rest of the distance. RAVEN hoisted down two Hasty Team members to assist. At about that time, one of the victims was declared deceased, and the other was downgraded to critical. The critical patient was hoisted up to the helicopter and transported to staging where he was carried to a waiting ambulance, which then transported him to the Care Flight helicopter. SAR teams were then tasked with assisting the medical examiner and packaging the deceased subject for a wheeled litter transport down to a waiting side x side, which then transported the subject to the staging area.
