7/16/2016 – Missing Subjects at Pyramid Lake

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to Pelican boat launch to assist PLPTP in searching for two subjects that had left the Nets area on a PWC, but did not return. As SAR teams were arriving at the lake, the Pyramid Lake Police boat located the subjects on a very small island to the north of the Pyramid, with their PWC swamped. They could not get in close enough to pick up the subjects in the rough water. M10 and M20 were launched with the plan of getting M20 in close enough to either retrieve the subjects or to have Hasty swimmers bring the subjects out to the boat. With the rough water, it was decided to use the Hasty swimmer plan, which worked well. The PWC was left on the rocks, and the subjects were safely transported back to staging.

7/15/2016 – Evidence Search

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an area on SR447 north of Nixon to conduct a wide area search for evidence related to a possible homicide.

7/10/2016 – Lost Subject

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted Pyramid Lake Tribal Police in locating a lost subject somewhere in the Pyramid Lake area. Further cell phone ping information placed him in the Needles area, with possible disorientation due to a medical issue. A ground team came across the subject and his vehicle close to the ping coordinates, but no where near a road. The subject’s vehicle was stuck and displayed exterior damage due to the area he was driving in. He was transported to a Hasty vehicle, who took him to a REMSA ambulance for evaluation.

7/5/2016 – Lost Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Lakeview Estates entrance to Hobart Reservoir to search for a mountain biker who was lost and stated that she was at The Red House. The subject was from the Czech Republic, so was not familiar with the area. Two ground teams took the road that leads to The Red House, which is a historical site, and found the subject at that location. Water, snacks, and warm clothing were supplied, and she was transported back to staging. She was met by the owner of the bike rental business and given a ride back to Tunnel Creek Station at Incline.
