8/16/2016 – Body Recovery

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and RAVEN traveled to Ruby Mountain area to assist the Elko County Sheriff’s Office in locating a subject who had gone missing on July 27th. After an extensive two week search with no results, archery hunters came across some personal items from the missing subject. Because of the rugged terrain and altitude, the Hasty Team and RAVEN were requested to help locate the subject. The subject’s body was located on the morning of August 16th, hoisted, and flown to the staging location.

8/12/2016 – Wrecked ATV

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Pinehaven entrance to Hunter Lake to search for a possible subject from a wrecked ATV. A jogger had come across the ATV and some personal items while running, and reported it to the Sheriff’s Office. Teams were deployed to get more information from the ATV, and look for a possible injured subject. As teams were en route to the location of the ATV, some background work from deputies enabled them to get in touch with the owner of the ATV. He had rolled it the day before, walked out, and hadn’t returned to retrieve it.

8/12/2016 – Plane Crash

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the north end of Pyramid Lake on the report of a plane crash. The pilot was not injured, but was walking and lost. Before teams left the Reno area, Pyramid Lake Rangers located the subject. He was attempting to land his plane on a dirt road near the Needles, when he hit a post next to a cattle guard, damaging his right wing. SAR teams were cancelled.

8/10/2016 – Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted NLTFPD in locating and transporting an injured mountain biker on the Incline Flume Trail above Diamond Peak Ski Resort. After being located, the subject was stabilized, packaged, and moved on a wheeled litter to a waiting ambulance. He was then brought down to the staging area at the upper parking lot of the ski resort.

8/9/2016 – Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR began responding for a severely injured mountain biker on the Tunnel Creek Trail. As teams were en route, new information from NLTFPD stated that the subject was not severely injured and that they had made patient contact. NLTFPD transported the subject. SAR teams were cancelled.
