6/9/2016 – Lost/Stuck Dirt Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Verdi entrance for Dog Valley to locate a dirt biker who had developed mechanical issues, and was not on any road or trail. The mechanical issue preceded his attempt to compression start his bike, going downhill, off the dead-end road he was following. He ended up crashing his bike and breaking his clutch lever. There was no easy route to his coordinates, so foot teams were deployed from two different locations in an effort to get to his cell phone ping location. Once he was located, he was walked back to waiting vehicles and brought back to staging.

6/6/2016 – Missing Subject in Elko County

SAR Staff and Hasty Team traveled to Elko County on a mutual aide request to help search for a missing rafter in the South Fork Humboldt River. The subject had gone missing on Sunday while rafting with family members. Swift water teams searched the river downstream from the last location the subject was seen, but he was not located. Rising water and debris from snow melt made the search difficult.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted WCSO Deputies in searching for a missing child in the Sun Valley area. Before teams were deployed, it was learned that the child was with family members in the Verdi area.
