1/10/2016 – Sidescan Sonar Search

SAR Staff and SVU conducted a sidescan sonar search in an area where a fisherman went missing on October 31st of 2015. A promising target was located, and when weather improves, the object will be investigated further.

1/11/2016 – Stuck Vehicles in Dog Valley

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Verdi side of Dog Valley on a request by Sierra County to assist in locating two vehicles with five adults and one child that were stuck in the area of Crystal Peak Mine. SVU ATV’s were able to get to the two vehicles and transport the subjects down to waiting SAR 4×4’s for transport back to staging where they were checked by REMSA.

1/4/2016 – Missing Fishermen

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and SVU assisted the PLPTP in searching for two missing fishermen that were last seen Friday morning, 1/1/16. The vehicle the men were driving was found at Warrior’s Point, and tracks led to the lake where they manually launched a 12′ aluminum boat. Nothing was located from either air or water assets.

1/3/2016 – Stuck 4×4 on Peavine Mnt.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR staged at the N. Virginia entrance to Peavine on the report of a stuck 4×4 near the peak of the mountain. Ground units located the three subjects in a stuck vehicle in the area where other missions have been performed in the past weeks. The vehicle was able to be physically pushed out of the holes it had dug in the snow, and the subjects were escorted safely down to staging.
