The SVU performed safety patrols at Pyramid Lake during the Labor Day weekend.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the area of Atoma Rd., across from the Mt.Rose Ski area, to search for a lost subject that had last been seen the prior evening near the waterfalls on the Mt. Rose trail.  The subject’s cell phone location came back to a rugged area on the north side of Galena Creek, approximately 1.25 miles west of the Atoma area.  Ground teams were able to locate the subject, who was dressed in only a shirt, shorts, and shoes, and was quite dehydrated.  He was given water and snacks, then escorted about .75 miles to a pick-up point where side x sides transported him back to staging.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the north end of the Winnemucca Dry Lake bed to search for a stranded subject that was stuck and broken down.  The subject had hiked from his vehicle to a high point to get cell service.  He gave his coordinates that were shown on his phone, but unknown to the SAR coordinators, the subject evidently left out a decimal point in both coordinates when relaying the message to dispatch.  Teams searched the presumed area without any success.  It was then discovered that instead of the coordinates being in degrees/decimal degrees, they should have been given as degrees/minutes/decimal minutes.  RAVEN then flew to the new location and located the subject in the Smoke Creek playa.  They transported the subject to waiting deputies in Gerlach.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted WCSO Deputies in searching an area in SW Reno for items related to a burglary.
