12/28/20 – Hoge Rd. Vehicle Accident

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to Hoge Rd. on the report of a vehicle accident approximately 1.5 miles from the staging location. TMFR and WCSO Deputies were first on scene and discovered that it wasn’t so much an accident, but a vehicle in a precarious position. The subject was given a courtesy ride to his residence.

12/18/20 – Galena Creek Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, and WCSAR BC responded to the Galena Creek Visitors Center to search for a hiker that was lost. The subject stated that she had seen a sign saying “Thomas Creek”, but did not know where she was. As teams were arriving in the area, the IMT was able to contact her and found out that she was walking down the Whites Creek Trail with two good Samaritans. SAR Staff met them as they were coming out of the area to Timberline.

12/17/20 – Peavine Stranded Subjects

SAR Staff and the SVU responded to Bordertown to access the location of two subjects that were in a stuck vehicle. Teams accessed the location from two different routes, both being nearly impassable due to snow and washed-out roads. The two subjects were located at the cell phone ping provided and transported down to staging. A Hasty team medic did a quick check and they were released to a family member.

12/13/20 – Dog Valley Stranded Vehicle, Part 2

SAR Staff, Hasty Medics, Sierra County SO, and the SVU again traveled to the location of yesterday’s stranded vehicle. A couple of inches of new snow had fallen since last night, with more to come. The subject changed his mind about not leaving, and he and his dog were transported out of the area. Sierra County SO took control of the case.
