3/6/24 WC Radio Shop Personnel Transport

SAR Staff and the SVU responded for the request to transport Washoe County Radio Shop personnel and fuel to the repeater site at the top of Virginia Peak. Power had been knocked out due to the recent series of storms. The Pisten Bully was used to complete the request.

2/23/24 – Relay Ridge Snowmobile Accident

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC responded to the Tahoe Meadows area to locate a injured snowmobiler. Before SAR asset arrived at staging, the subject was flown to a hospital by Care Flight, so the SVU was tasked with recovering the snowmobile.

1/26/24 – Lost Snowmobiler

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU Tracked, and WCSAR BC responded to the Tahoe Meadows area to locate a subject that had buried his snowmobile bad enough that he was not able to extricate it. He then walked approximately 1/2 mile in a direction that was not going to take him to civilization. BC teams, on foot and skis, were either transported or towed by SVU tracked equipment to the vicinity of the subject. He was assisted back to the tracked machines and given a ride out to staging. His snowmobile was also recovered.

1/26/24 – Henness Pass Rd. EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty BC, SVU, and WCSAR BC responded to Dog Valley Rd. to locate a subject that was having a medical episode. BC personnel assisted TMFR, REMSA, and Care Flight with packaging the subject for transport.

1/25/24 – Stranded Skiers

SAR Staff, Hasty Skiers, and WCSAR BC responded to both the Slide side of the Mt. Rose Ski Resort and to Davis Creek Park to access two skiers that had skied out of bounds and ended up just above the “slide” area of Slide Mountain. Mt. Rose Ski Patrol was able to get in voice contact with them and encouraged them to walk back up to a point where they could be guided back to the ski resort. SAR assets did not deploy.
