SAR Staff and the SVU were requested by NHP to assist in locating and rescuing multiple occupants from a number of cars that were stranded in deep snow on the Mt. Rose Highway, just east of the summit. All totaled, 17 subjects were brought out to safety.

SAR Staff and the SVU assisted Storey County Deputies in locating a subject east of the Painted Rock exit that had called 911 for assistance. The subject was located and transported from the area.

SAR Staff and the SVU were again requested to transport Washoe County Radio Shop personnel to the top of Virginia Peak in in order to repair radio repeater equipment. Personnel were transported by snowcat to the repeater site to facilitate repairs.

As SVU personnel were prepping the snowcat, it was discovered that more issues than were originally anticipated would require the mission to be postponed.

SAR Staff and the SVU began responding to the Palomino Valley area to locate a family of three that had become stuck in snow in the mountains. As teams were en route, the subjects were able to get assistance from a local homeowner. SAR response was cancelled.
