6/19/2015 – Stranded Vehicle

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Hungry Valley area to search for four subjects in a stuck vehicle – two adults and two children. The vehicle was located at the coordinates provided from a cell phone ping and was extricated by a SAR team. One of the subjects was having a medical issue and was transported to REMSA at staging.

6/14/2015 – Boat in Distress

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to Pyramid Lake on the report of a vessel in distress. Marine 20 located the drifting boat, with six people on board, approximately two miles east of Spider Point. The boat and subjects were towed safely back to staging at Pelican Dock.

6/13/2015 – Boats in Distress

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR assisted PLSAR with what was first reported as two boats in distress and taking on water. One boat was located by the PLSAR boat, which initiated a tow. Soon after, the PLSAR boat began having mechanical problems, but did complete the tow. It was then reported that a possible third boat was in distress somewhere in the Hells Kitchen area. The PL Police boat located the second distressed boat – a hovercraft, beached in the Anderson Bay area, and the occupants were safely transported to staging. The third boat was never located, even with the use of NVG’s.

6/9/2015 – Injured Hiker

SAR Staff, Careflight, Hasty Team, NLTFPD, SVU, and WCSAR staged at Tahoe Meadows to search for an injured subject in the area of Price Lake, near the Ophir Creek Trail. The subject was located by SAR teams, packaged, and transported to a landing zone for Careflight.

6/6/2015 – Missing Subject

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, WCSAR, and WOOF assisted Pershing County S.O. in a mutual aid request to search for a missing subject in the Buena Vista Valley/Stillwater Mountain Range, approximately 30 miles east of Lovelock. The subject was last see about about three weeks ago, and although his truck and campsite were located previous to this mission, nothing was found during the day-long search.
