10/22/2017 – Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to Spooner Lake State Park to locate an injured mountain biker in the Marlette Lake area. NLTFPD personnel deployed shortly before SAR assets got on scene, and located the subject approximately 5.25 miles from staging, to the east of Marlette. The injured mountain biker was given initial treatment and was transported out to a waiting ambulance.

10/15/2017 – Missing boater at Lahontan Reservoir

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR were requested by Lyon County to assist in locating a subject from a boat that tipped over at Lahontan Reservoir. When the boat went over, one subject was rescued by a passing boat, but a second subject was not accounted for. As teams were preparing to leave the Reno area, the missing subject was located at a hospital.

10/15/2017 – Boats in Distress

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to Pyramid Lake on the report of a boat that was in distress. As teams arrived at the lake, information was learned that the boat was able to get its motor started again, and returned to Pelican Dock. As this time, another boat was reported to be waving for help near the Windless Bay area. M10 was launched and checked numerous boats in that area, but no vessels required assistance. All SAR teams were released.

10/8/2017 – Injured Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Mayberry Park area to locate an injured hiker on the Steamboat Ditch Trail. Foot teams and a UTV team were deployed to different entrance points, with the UTV team locating the subject and his wife approximately 1/4 mile from the “Hole in the Wall”. The subject had injured a knee and was attempting to very slowly walk back to their starting point at the Thomas Cook Trailhead. The subject was transported down to a waiting ambulance.

10/7/2017 – TRT Injured Mountain Biker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the south end of Sheeps Flat on the report of an injured mountain biker on the Tahoe Rim Trail. NLTFPD was first on scene and deployed their UTV. They drove as far as they could, then hiked to the coordinates. Meanwhile, SAR foot teams were deployed. It was then reported that fire personnel had located the subject and was walking out to their UTV for transport to staging. SAR foot teams returned to staging as well.
