6/19/2018 – 911 Call

SAR Staff, Air Squadron, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to an area approximately nine miles east of the old D’Andrea Golf Course to search for the sender of a 911 call that kept calling back, did not say anything, and only breathing was heard. The area was thoroughly searched on the ground and in the air, but nothing was located. A vehicle was spotted by the Air Squadron south of Lockwood, appearing to be smashed into a tree, and ground assets were dispatched to that location. Once the vehicle was found, it turned out to be an old, abandoned truck.

6/16/2018 – Pyramid Lake Inner Tube

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and the SVU began responding to Pyramid Lake to rescue three subjects that had been blown out into the lake in the area of Spider Point. Initial Pyramid Lake Police units estimated them to be approximately 1/2 mile from shore. Before SAR units arrived, a boat in the area was alerted by PLPD and they were able to bring the subjects back to shore. SAR response was cancelled.

6/12/2018 – Missing Subject

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Winnemucca Ranch Rd. area to initially search for one missing subject, which turned out to be part of a group of four. A vehicle with three subjects became stuck in the Bedell Flats area and called for assistance from a friend. The friend never showed up, so they called 911. A WCSO Deputy located the stuck vehicle and transported them to staging. SAR was tasked in locating the friend that was supposed to be in the area. The missing subject and vehicle, which actually had four people inside, was located near the road to Bedell Flats by a SAR team. They were not stuck, so the occupants were escorted back to staging.

Lake Tahoe Sinking Boat

SAR Staff and the Hasty Team began responding to the Sand Harbor area on the report of a 21′ sailboat that was sinking. The two occupants boarded a kayak and safely escaped the sinking boat. Park Rangers located the occupants safely on shore. SAR response was cancelled.

6/3/2018 – Hunter Creek Trail EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and WCSAR were assisted by REMSA and TMFPD in locating, treating, and transporting a hiker that was experiencing medical problems approximately two miles up the trail. After the subject was packaged, she was hoisted to RAVEN and transported down to the staging area where she was transferred to a waiting ambulance.
