SAR Staff, Air Squadron, Hasty Team, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR searched for a missing dementia subject on three days. The Air Squadron used three planes, each flying two separate sorties, in an attempt to locate a missing subject and vehicle. Nothing was located. On the evening of the following day, a couple that were off-roading in the mountains east of Spanish Springs came across the disable vehicle, but the subject was not there. Ground teams searched the surrounding area and canyons into the next morning, but without success. Teams, including RAVEN, started early in the morning, continuing the search on the ground, but this time, with daylight. RAVEN spotted the subject approximately 1/2 mile from the vehicle, in the area where a ground team was searching. The subject was located, deceased.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR were requested to assist TMFPD with a subject above Davis Creek Park who complained of a leg injury. She was located approximately 1/4 mile above staging and was transported by a TMFPD UTV. SAR response was cancelled.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR assisted NLTFPD in locating and assisting an elderly hiker that had fallen and sustained facial injuries on the Mt. Rose Trail, approximately 1.25 miles from the trailhead.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Spooner Summit trailhead for Marlette Lake to search for a hiker that called 911 to say that she was disoriented and not sure of which way to go. Ground teams entered the area on both the access road and single track trail, while another team was sent to locate the subject’s vehicle. Due to spotty cell phone reception and a low battery, she did not receive the message to not move from her original location. By the time searchers had arrived in the area of the cell phone ping, she had figured out where she needed to go and had hiked out on a trail that SAR teams had not reached yet. The team that located her vehicle waited for her to come to them. Once she arrived at the vehicle, no medical was required.

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to Pyramid Lake for two different issues. The first – multiple people on innertubes being blown into the lake near Block House, along with a boat, solved itself thanks to a good Samaritan towing the boat to shore, and the subjects on the innertubes being able to make it back to shore on their own. The second problem revolved around a boat in distress in the Spider Point area. A Pyramid Lake Police boat, that had launched for the first case, was re-directed to the Spider Point call. SAR response was cancelled per Pyramid Lake Police.
