10/16/2018 – Relay Peak EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, SVU, and WCSAR began responding to the Mt. Rose summit for an injured hiker near the radio towers on Relay Peak. As SAR teams were en route, NLTFPD located and packaged the subject, and was heading down to staging. SAR response was cancelled.

10/14/2018 – Sheep Flats EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR assisted NLTFPD in locating, packaging, and transporting an injured hiker from the east end of Sheeps Flats back to a staging location on the Mt. Rose Highway.

9/30/2018 – Lost Trail Runner

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and SVU responded to the Garson Rd. entrance to Hunter Lake to locate a trail runner who had started a run to the top of Mt. Rose at 1100hrs. He became lost on his decent down the trail, and had wandered for approximately four hours. With the assistance of IMT personnel, a location was finally extracted from his phone, which put him in the area of Davis Meadow. Ground teams were en route from the Garson Rd. entrance, but RAVEN was able to locate the subject through the use of FLIR. They were able to land approximately 1/2 mile from the subject, walk to him, and escort him back to the helicopter. He was then flown to a landing zone at the Garson staging area. He was checked by a medic and transported home.

9/30/2018 – Thomas Creek EMS

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Thomas Creek Trail staging area to assist TMFPD and REMSA with locating, treating, and transporting an injured hiker. The subject was located at the wilderness boundary, treated by medics, and transported down to staging.

9/29/2018 – Lost Hiker

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR responded to the Michael Thompson Trailhead to search for a lost subject near the Hunter Creek Falls. Using a cell phone ping, the subject was located and escorted back to staging.
