SAR Staff, Hasty Team, NLTFPD, RAVEN, SVU, and WCSAR responded to the Mt. Rose Summit parking lot on a report of a female hiker who was having severe abdominal pains. The subject had reached the Mt. Rose summit with a large group of school children on a fieldtrip. SAR personnel were with the group as hiking chaperones and observed the subject having pain in her abdominal area at that time, but she felt that she could make it back to the parking lot. By the time they reached the area of the waterfall, the pain was too severe, and the subject was vomiting. Teams were sent in from the parking lot entrance, as well as being transported via the Relay Ridge Road to a location where they could access the trail from the west. Due to the location of the subject and the severity of the pain, it was decided to have RAVEN perform a hoist and transport her to a waiting ambulance.
