Mine Rescue – 9/1/2013

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, and WCSAR were requested by Lyon County Fire to assist with the rescue of a dirt biker who had fallen into a mine shaft.  The subject was in the Ludwig mine, approximately 60 feet down. To complicate matters, his bike was above him at about the 20 ft. level and leaking gas.   Team members were able to stabilize the bike and lift the subject out.  Because he was wearing full off-road motocross protective gear, he only had a broken ankle.
