7/2/2017 – Stuck Hikers

SAR Staff, Hasty Team, RAVEN, and WCSAR responded to the Mt. Rose Highway summit to search for two hikers that were reporting being stuck in snow and steep terrain. The first ground team that arrived at the location found them well off trail, up a very steep snow covered/scree covered hill. Searchers were able to finally get to them, but they were in a location that was very dangerous and the searchers were not comfortable with guiding them safely down to the trail. RAVEN was called to perform a hoist of the two subjects and five ground team members. After four hoist trips, all subjects and searchers were safely brought to staging.
